Single-car accidents can be just as dangerous as a multi-car crash. When someone drives off the road, they’re usually driving pretty fast. They end up crashing into a tree or median and get ejected from the vehicle. When this happens, they sustain serious injuries and can even die. Paincourtville man dies in a single car accident.

This is what happened to Gary Hebert, a 65-year old man from Paincourtville today in Assumption Parish. He was driving his 2012 Toyota Tacoma on LA 1006 near Enola Road and Napoleonville at around 7 p.m. on Sunday, November 10.

Hebert lost control of his car and ran off the road. His truck then proceeded to flip multiple times and end up hitting a raised driveway. Hebert was indeed ejected from the car at the time of impact. His car ended up upside down near the raised driveway.

Hebert was rushed to Assumption Parish Community Hospital to be treated. Sadly, he died as a result of his injuries and was pronounced dead after 7 p.m. on Sunday. Hebert was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Authorities also think that he may have been impaired at the time of the accident. The police are waiting for the toxicology report to come back.

The police also believe speed had something to do with the crash. When someone’s driving that fast and lose control, it can be disastrous. There has been no comment from the victim’s family. Thankfully, nobody else was injured in the accident.
